Venkat Matoory, based in Chandigarh, leads Junior Achievement Worldwide’s India organization as its CEO. He leads and directs the strategy for JA Worldwide’s India Enterprise Impact Initiative.Centred on work readiness, JA in India engages students in regular schools for early stage, long term directional counseling. To date, the organization has reached 350K+ students (since 2006) in 450+ institutions.Guiding current and future professionals to find their maximum personal potential has stayed as his passion for many years now. He serves as advisor on board for chosen entities centred on this mission, contributes his inputs in shaping thoughts in specific education related think tanks.
The India Enterprise Impact Initiative purposes itself to create the India Backbone Organization that lead manages a federation of similarly aligned organizations to build a very large social enterprise for a collective impact in India. The initiative is structured as a proof-of-concept.
He was awarded the MOST OUTSTANDING CEO AWARD in 2009.
Over the past decade, he has actively influenced stakeholder thoughts on responses to workforce preparation including the World Economic Forum (contributions / reports accessible on world economic forum website) and as a TEDx speaker (Venkat Matoory’s TED Talk). He has been a panelist for WEF’s session on Capitalizing India’s Human Capital (IES 2010) and has contributed to WEF publications on talent / talent mobility / entrepreneurship / skill development.Additionally, he is part of World Economic Forum’s India Skills Initiative.
He is an invited panelist to the Horasis Global Convention, Liverpool UK on Global Governance matters and the Horasis India Convention, Portugal on employment, skills and education. Under his guidance, India’s first high school commerce initiative using his AGILE PERSONALIZATION® framework is scheduled to go live with its first batch of students this April 2016. This initiative intends to be the veritable proof of imparting industry connected, personalized commerce comprehension to students in regular K12 school setting.
Having spent close to 20 years within the management consulting space with the likes of KPMG, Infosys Business Consulting across Australia, India, Japan and USA, he infrequently invests time advising industry friends interested in acquiring industrial units.
Prior to his current roles, he operated as the General Manager for Business Planning and Strategy for Accenture in India.
He is an alumnus of National Institute of Technology Trichy (1995) and Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (1999).
Executive Vice President
Ramesh, based in Mumbai, is the Executive Vice President of Junior Achievement India Services. In his capacity, Ramesh involves himself in both Strategic and Operational level decisions and activities of JA India. Ramesh is involved in key strategic discussions that could have bearing on the strategic objectives/vision as well as operational direction of JA India. Apart from overseeing Region West operations Ramesh also looks at managing and developing key Corporate relationships from Funding/Volunteering standpoint, managing the JA India entire reporting and analytics operations from Mumbai.
Ramesh started out his career as a Strategy and Operations consultant with KPMG, London. After a couple of years with KPMG London as part of the Business Transformation team, Ramesh returned to KPMG India and was involved in a number of Strategy and Operations Consulting with experience across industry sectors of Telecommunication, Consumer Goods, etc. Ramesh was involved in a large scale transformation engagement for a large Diamond company whom he joined as the COO of their Jewellery Venture.
As COO of the Jewellery Venture, Ramesh stationed in Hong Kong, set up a high end diamond jewellery operations in Hong Kong/China. Over the course of the three years, Ramesh was involved in the design, implementation and set up of the Business operations. The role needed Ramesh to set up a greenfield factory in China, set up a Design and Marketing office in Hong Kong, set up the Organisation Structure, HR and Training, Performance Measures, IT infrastructure etc.
Upon returning to India, Ramesh decided to set up his own company in the area of Sales and Operations Planning Solutions. Towards this established Indus Momentus Business Solutions which is a Service Integrator specialised into the areas of Demand Planning, Production Planning, Supply Chain Planning. Based on the success of the company in India, Ramesh has now ventured out and has established the company in other markets of Turkey Singapore etc.
Ramesh was also involved with Monitor Group’s Social Change initiative and was focused on the Affordable Housing segment. Ramesh was instrumental in spreading the idea of creating low cost housing in Urban areas. He worked closely with a developer in Ahmedabad and played a key role in building the organisation and with it creating more than a 1000 low cost houses across 3 projects. Ramesh was part of the Task Force on Rental Housing for the
Ramesh has keen interest in reading, travelling, teaching, photography and music, he is a drummer in a leading rock band in Mumbai. In his teaching role, when time permits, Ramesh engages in Corporate Workshops, courses in Management institutes like IIM Indore etc.
